Are o2 sim only tariffs being hiked up by an extra £3 from October 2025?
Customers that were migrated from Virgin mobile.
O2 help desk chat confirmed this was the case.

When I hit to send a system message appears saying:
Messages would like to send a message to 85075.
This will incur charges on your account.

There's no charge.
That's just a standard warning that all phones give.

We really hope you want to stay with us, but if you choose to switch today, your Early Termination Charge will be £0.00. If you're on a standard contract, this will include your remaining balance. Your final bill will still include any airtime you've used and any out-of-bundle charges like Charge To Mobile services.
After you leave, you'll lose services on your account including any free-of-charge ones. If you've got accessible formats active on your account, this service won't be available either.
For more info about the services you'll lose, full switching info and your accessible formats,Can't use that link? Reply to this message with link I've removed 'EMAIL' or 'POST' and we'll send you the info that way.

It would appear that I'm on a 30 day rolling contract, so I assume I'll pay the £3 hike.

Yes, if you stay with o2 then you pay the extra £3 per month.. @Diston
So have a look around as lots of Virtual Networks will give you a much better deal...

It would still be free to leave if you were passed your minimum term of either 12 or 24 months.
But really, when you log in to your MyO2, it should specifically say "30 day contract" if that's what you have.
O2 will also have emailed you with the details as it's a change to your T&C's and they are legally obliged to do so.
