Am currently roaming in the US, but cannot connect to a network. Using an iPhone 11, and worked fine across Europe in the summer. I turned off voicemail few days ago using #O2## and have upgraded my tariff to allow me to use my phone here. O2 can’t fix and say no restrictions on my account. Have reset network settings. Any thoughts? Thanks

@AK1978

There have been some reported issues with data connections in the USA, but, Some things to try:
Manually search for another network
Reboot the phone
Turn off 4g in network settings
If you have an iPhone change your data APN to "mobile.o2.co.uk"
If still not working then contact O2 to remove the Roaming bar on your account.
If you message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Why is changing APN from "idata.o2.co.uk" to "mobile.o2.co.uk" necessary just on iPhones, when you happen to be roaming?

Only necessary if idata is not enabled on the account

O2 don't enable it as standard which is a massive oversight and bordering on negligent

It's part of the set up for using iPhones and tells the o2 systems that something is slightly different in the background.

Android phones (even those with Visual Voicemail) don't have a matching setting, so they don't need the change.
