Hi, I've a Classic sim card for use in a TP link router to access Wifi whilst away in a motorhome. I have a mobile with another provider. I used to be with O2 years ago and had an account which was closed.

I tried to register the new sim card on line a few days ago in what I thought was  by opening a new account and somehow O2 threw up my old closed account. I can't seem to register the new sim card on line as I can't get the security code because they think it's going to be used in my mobile phone which it isn't.

Can  I register the new sim purely on line, and if so can I then alter the payment frequency from a monthly tariff to one where I can top it up when the credit is used as I won't be using mega amounts of data.

Thanks,Phil S.

No to everything unfortunately.

You can't get a data only PAYG sim anymore from O2 and phone sim cards cannot be used in routers.

You can hotspot from a phone, but that's all.

To register any sim you'll either need to contact O2 to add it to your current account or use a different email address.

Guide: How to find help & contact O2

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
