I have a galaxy watch 5 and a Google pixel phone and it won't make or receive phone calls unless connected  Bluetooth to my phone as I belive it should  in case I forget  my phone indoors

 We know it is possible as another family member  has a watch 4 and a galaxy  fold and it works it seems they have settings they I can't access and I want to know why

From memory, you need to download the Galaxy Wearables app on your phone.
