Setting up a direct debit

I've been offered an early upgrade deal which runs out on the 11th of June went into my local o2 store to do the upgrade however for some reason when they try to input my account number & sort code it will not verify my account. I've tried putting in my partners account even my sons account but to no avail. I've tried doing the upgrade on the app but still the same problem. Rang o2 last night & even they couldn't do it. Whilst on the phone to the guy at o2 it transpired there was another customer ringing in with the same problem????

Yes it's not the card or cards I'm trying to use. When I rang o2 the other day to try to do it that way the guy I spoke to said somebody else had already rang in with the same problem
