O2 sim only to refresh

HELP!!!! So I don’t know what to believe. I spoke to someone on o2 about my SIM ONLY upgrade to refresh due on 3rd jun 2018, a few have told me I can upgrade early and I’ll be credit checked, however I spoke to another one who said it’s not possible to upgrade early because we want you to be with us 6 months before we upgrade you to a phone, and we won’t credit check you as we do this when we open your account. Who is right?? Will I be credit checked ad my score isn’t great so Any help would be appreciated. I can attach screenshots of the live chat if this helps

You can upgrade after 3 months from a sim only provided you have paid on time for those 3 months and you take a refresh contract.
You will not be credit checked for an upgrade, that's only for new contracts.

  • Your upgrade eligibility has expired. I have been told by 02 my upgrade date is definitely 3/6/18 but I did upgrade my 6gb tariff to a 20gb one in December if this changes anything. I’ve only ever had one late bill which wasn’t my fault as they should have taken it a certain day but it was Easter  bank holiday. They didn’t try to take the money until about 6 days after, as the money wasn’t in my account. Will I not be credit checked in June as the t&cs say subject to credit status. And If I fail what happens then? Do they cancel the contract altogether? as I said I can attach screenshots of the live chat to help get my situation. Thanks for the help! grin

The late payment may go against you, regardless of who was at fault, unfortunately.
You should call customer services on 202 rather than use live chat as they rarely know what they are talking about.

I would call customer service in the morning rather than use the iffy website (which normally goes down around this time everynight to update). I also wouldn't use live chat either to upgrade.

Thanks for the help people! I contacted them today to see what’s going on. I was told they were in fact correct I can’t ugrade until 3/6/18, and was also told that they won’t credit Check me again, but do check to make sure my bill has been paid. I’ll ley you all know on the day and see what happens
