Signed up for a phone with O2 the other day. Was asked for the full details of my Visa Debit card, including the 3 number code, as part of checks. Found this a bit odd. (Paying by direct debit so debit card shouldn’t come in to play).

Is this normal?

Yes, perfectly normal practice for an ID check.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Yes, they make a small transaction, to confirm the account is yours, which is refunded.

They ask for this on the order page, to verify the banking information and your identity.

Outside of this no business should ask for your full card number and CVV / CVC., under any circumstances.

Was this o2 direct? and from an employee??
