Roaming in Montenegro

I recently visited Montenegro in a small group with other O2 users. When we arrived, I was the only one not to receive a "Welcome to" text. None of us has purchased any bolt-ons. I checked my phone's settings upon return to the UK and data roaming is activated. I'm worried that the same thing might happen on a future trip to the EU (Montenegro is not in EU), leaving me stranded at the airport, unable to book an Uber except via flaky airport wifi. This was this phone's first foreign trip. It's a Samsung Galaxy A26 5G. Is there anything I can do or check?

@M_David_Ward - all info here: Guide: Roaming MegaGuide and

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/international-and-network/using-your-phone-abroad/roaming

Some generic things to try:

Check data roaming is on in phone settings ( you said you had done this).

Manually search for and try other networks - even any showing as forbidden.

Turn off 5g in SIM settings in your handset.

Enable 4g calling.

Change your data APN to "mobile.o2.co.uk" if no data is being received.

Check with O2 whether you have a roaming bar on your account. Do this via social media to O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG, they should be able to help. Good luck!

Thanks. This sounds useful. I will mark it as the solution even though I cannot be 100% sure.
