i UPGRADED FROM O2 TO ANOTHER O2, NEW ONE WORKING OK, APART FROM WHEN GOOGLE SENT ME A MESSAGE IT WAS SENT TO MY OLD PHONE WHICH SHOULD BE SWITCHED OFF, ANY IDEAS

Have you tried your old sim in your new phone?
If so use that.
Or you could try activating your new sim. https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/activating-your-sim
