Seemingly impssible to unlock Sony Xperia XA

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help here. My missus gave me her old phone, she's on O2 I'm not. Phone has lonog since been paid off, was originally sold through Carphone Warehorse.

Been asking for it to be unlocked and was initially told by O2 that CW had to do it. They said no, O2 must do it. Then was told by O2 that Sony must do it. They said no, O2 must do it. O2 now say they cannot do it.

What do I do? I lost my (contract) phone in Feb, we're both NHS workers, so could really do with some help here. If I raise a complaint with O2 will they take responsibility here because we are getting passed off every time.

With thanks,

Nick

Ok so I thought I'd try the Vodafone SIM on some other phones, it works in -

  1. 6ish year old HTC One that the camera's knackered on
  2. 8ish year old Sony Xperia Z1 Compact that randomly opens apps
  3. 10ish year old Samsung Galaxy S2 that my apps are no longer made for and battery lasts less than a day

It doesn't work in the 4ish year old Sony Xperia XA though. When i insert the Vodafone SIM it says "Phone not allowed MM #6" and won't make calls.

I checked the SIM lock from the Service Info menu having dialled *#*#7378423#*#* it says the same as with the other SIMS inserted, however I noticed under the Configuration menu that under "Remote Locked State" it says "Locked".

Given that the Voda SIM works in phones 1-3 above do you guys think that the Voda SIM is still suspect here?

Thank you so much for all your help and advice here.

@Anonymous

Can you not just get a new sim from Voda to try?

Yes.
If it were locked to either o2 or EE, it would only work with that sim.
The picture of the config confirms it is not locked.
Yours is the only one with an issue in that phone.

I'm back at a Surgery with a Vodafone shop near to it, I'll pop in and pick one up.

What will the verdict be if this second SIM doesn't work?
