Seemingly impssible to unlock Sony Xperia XA

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help here. My missus gave me her old phone, she's on O2 I'm not. Phone has lonog since been paid off, was originally sold through Carphone Warehorse.

Been asking for it to be unlocked and was initially told by O2 that CW had to do it. They said no, O2 must do it. Then was told by O2 that Sony must do it. They said no, O2 must do it. O2 now say they cannot do it.

What do I do? I lost my (contract) phone in Feb, we're both NHS workers, so could really do with some help here. If I raise a complaint with O2 will they take responsibility here because we are getting passed off every time.

With thanks,

Nick

Hi @Anonymous , hope you had a nice long weekend! Has there been any progress with your phone since the 23rd? slight_smile

Marjo thanks for following up. Vodafone said O2 must unblacklist the phone, spoke to O2 and they said it IS locked, and the reason it works with an EE SIM is because they share networks. They also said, again, that they cannot unlock it because it was sold by Carphone Warehouse.

Am on the verge of giving up....

Biggest load of rubbish I've heard this year !!

I still think it's a voda issue either with the phone or your account.

I’ve now given up on this. Been reading up, apparently the 0 next to the Network in the system menu means there are no attempts left to alter that value. So we were effectively sold a locked phone.

thank you everyone for time and input, i am defeated

That's only if there is an [x] preceeding that line @Anonymous

Bingo!
It says 0 because it's already unlocked.
The screenshot on page 3 shows that as far as that handset is programmed, it is unlocked
