We read the same sources as yourself and interpret what we hear and see. Just because our understanding may differ from your does not mean we work for O2 and it's no good ranting about a company who are blameless in this sorry saga between China and Trump. No one really knows what is going to happen but for certain, no current handset will be bricked after the the 90 days.
@jonsie makes a very good point @StevenGW about O2 which applies to all the other mobile network operators in the same situation as O2. As is Google who, as a US-based company were simply complying with the law as written. To do otherwise, would have incurred, at the very least, huge fines. While we can sympathise with your concern and frustration most of us feel that the situation between Trump and China, which is exactly the problem, could sort itself out in 90 days.
