Long shot here but does anyone know if the Xperia 1 will come from O2 with an unlockable bootloader?

But you'd have to speak to Sony and it would void your warranty

No one knows until they ship..
@liggerz87 the unbranded ones are allowed, but I think the OP was specifically talking about o2 branded ones which historically, have been perma-locked

Unless Sony have become more against it I remember if you rooted a Sony phone you'd lose camera quality is never rooted

Previous experience of a Sony Xperia XZ Premium from O2 would suggest the boot loader would in fact be permanently locked.
Kindest Regards,

Thanks for the replies, I decided to go with the O2 pre-order deal because it seems to good to miss.

Don't really see how they're going to make money off me, £119 for the next 6 months and £105 cashback at the end of it if everything works out.

If as I expect, the O2 bootloader is not unlockable then in a few years when I feel like customising outside of Sony's firmware I will probably grab a cheap motherboard from a used model and swap them over.
