Unlocking my Sony Xperia

I have requested O2 to unlock my phone and have just received an email back saying it was already unlocked. However this is not the case as have tried a Three sim card as well as a virgin sim in the phone. I am then asked for a sim network unlock code which I don't have. Why can O2 think it is unlocked when it isn't

@Jayhall91 ever since O2 stopped locking phones, the system has been screwed up.

I'll tag @EmilieT who can usually help out.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
