Oh, I don't know. The free coffee, sausage rolls and baps have been most welcome this year. 🤣

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Pot luck whether you get through to a UK based customer service

Otherwise I agree with you

Never seen a txt from eBay UK cost anything, so long as your PAYG account is current with an active bundle, @MrsBa1.

Perhaps you replied with emojis in your reply, costing you many as an MMS message is never included in your balance (contract or PAYG)?

This explains what happens, and how to prevent it:

I had a lovely girl in customer service, although it took some maneuvering to get through to someone. After trying to tell me that I am still on a pay monthly contract and I managed to persuade her that this was over 5 years ago, I asked her about changing the 02 phone number to my usual number, ironically the same number I had changed to 02 5 years ago, she told me not to pay any money until my number was changed  as this can complicate things, and not to bother with Rolling Plans since it isn't as flexible as big bundles. She didn't seem to know if rolling plans included EU Roaming, but as she didn't recommend it anyway, so I really didn't think that mattered.
