Hi Guys,

Since 8am today, our 2G voice and data service has been restored.

Our engineers are continuing to work on the 3G service and we anticipate a full restoration of services soon.

Please have a look at our blog post for more info.

Thanks

Abs

Thanks for trying to explain that it depends which circuits we are in. But I can only think of it by area - so when we are in different areas we are using different circuits?  How can ringing from the same landline to two O2 numbers located also in the same house have consistently the same result i.e. one never gets through the other always at present?

Also just checked again on service status from your link - it says NO Issues - albeit it is listed at 15:00hrs  status (now almost 21:30hrs).  Does that mean no one have reported a problem in my locality?  Or is it somehow just by mobile numbers and NOT areas?

What's happening where you are?

We are continuing to work on a fix for the remaining customers who are still experiencing difficulties using their mobile phone. We again apologise for the inconvenience.

Different phone numbers can be side by side and be on different circuits....

I have had no Incoming service all day. so far it has cost me about 200 pounds. I have had to spend time calling others just to keep business going. COME ON O2,  don't tell me everything is ok when we know damn well it is not !!!

I am trying to be reasonable, as I am sure you are all working at it to the best of your ability- as nobody wants this to happen and emphasize problem with 'putting all your eggs in one basket' - when one don't have a choice.

But again if you continue to say it's down to different circuits without further explanation (even though my wife's O2 mobile works)-

"Different phone numbers can be side by side and be on different circuits...."  my mobile phone is in that B97 5YS area and it now can't be reached- why is it then saying the locality is OK  on your Live status?  Surely you mean these different circuits are serving different numbers even in each area otherwise it is irrelevant reporting status by area.

@GibUK

From what I know there are 3 base servers obviously with different mobile numbers attached. I suspect one of the servers is down affecting those numbers associated with it.

This is the most likely explanation though not official and why my neighbour's phone is ok and mine isn't.

When you put your postcode in the status page, that is telling you that there are no mast issues in your area which is why your wife's phone can connect to it.

The local masts are working fine - It's the system behind that which has fallen over. There are different systems that different phones register onto. These are the circuits that route your SIM through the network. Most likely you are showing a good signal on your phone (mast response) but there is nothing behind it. Just like uplugging the broadband cable from your wifi router but leaving the wifi transmitting - It transmits nothing so you don't get a connection.
