Poor reception

About two weeks ago my phone reception at my property dropped significantly. This is also true when out in other locations.

I am currently home and signal strength is -98dbm , 43 ASU. It was similar in another location a few miles away earlier today. It has been as bad as -105, 35.

I have tried rebooting my phone but that made no difference.

Friends are having to call me via whatsapp as normal phone calls are constantly lost.

Is there a fix or do I need to change provider?

Guide: How can I sort out my network issues?

It could be you need a new SIM, go to an O2 shop with photo id and they will exchange your SIM card for a new one for free, @mythnormadman

Worst case your phone may be at fault, check by swapping SIM from another working phone and testing.

Good luck.

This app is referenced in the guides already provided to you @mythnormadman ; it is really worth a look :-

My Network App - Find Out More About Your Network Coverage | Apps | O2

https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/my-network

Understand your network coverage

With the My Network app you can keep an eye on your coverage, wherever you are. Download the app and you’ll be able to:

- check the status of our network in your area – you don’t even need to enter your postcode
- test your network speeds
- report any issues with your service.

It’s simple to use and means that you can check the network without having to visit the main site or even enter a postcode.

What evidence is there, for this being a SIM issue?

A two-way SIM swap with a working phone would be a good test and would highlight faulty kit

As pointed out in my post, 4th line, @japitts:

But perhaps not mentioning the reverse swap of known good SIM into misbehaving handset 👍
