started this evening, noticed around 8pm when someone tried to call me but they received a message 'number not recognised'.

3 other members of the family are with o2 and all seems to be working fine.

I have switch flight mode on/off and also restarted the phone but still the same...switch off WiFi and data seems to be working just fine.

O2 has had network outages in some areas. They are aware and hope to have an update soon.

I had same issue at around 8pm last night,  I had tried taking sim out and back in and switching off and on and O2 on the phone referred me to "network support team" with 24h "timeline"and didn't seem to understand the issue. Went into local O2 shop just now- the chap took sim out and put it back in and phone suddenly started working (stronger signal?). O2 on phone and man in store said they were having issues today and recommended against a SIM-swap today due to the delays and to keep with my old SIM for now.

@Kirbster

No, the forum manager said 'There's currently an issue with some accounts which O2 are investigating'. When he knows, he'll inform us on the forum.

Should now be fixed

You will need to switch your phone off, then back on again

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
