Trying to keep my old number

I recently got a new phone that required a new sim. I decided to change from my current pay & go to a pay monthly sim but the issue arose when I wanted to keep my current pay & go phone number. I was attempting to keep my number but in doing so I used the sim swap thing but the pay monthly sim was already activated, like I had service, in store when I bought the phone and it came with a temporary number.

So my questions are:
1) Will anything happen as I tried to sim swap an activated sim?
And 2) How do I keep my old number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you slight_smile

Probably ...if it doesn't happen within the 48hrs  then you need to contact customer services. Remember in the meantime to keep rebooting your phone @Anonymous. Just to add my husband swapped  to keep his number a couple of weeks ago. It took 15 minutes for it to complete but time does vary....

I sincerely hope the number swap happens first, it's been going on long enough. The problem now is that it's weekend.

The joys of driving have long since gone for me. We used to drive 3000 miles in the US touring but I wouldn't dream of it now....
