Since the abolition of roaming charges, do I need to text travleon and pay 1.99/day?

O2 travel no longer exists in Europe, so not if you are travelling to an EU destination.
It may still be required elsewhere in the World though, if you want o2 travel rates.

If you are travelling further afield than the EU O2 Travel will cost you either £3.99 or £4.99 depending on destination.
