Texts showing as emails?

Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes...

My husband has just bought an iPhone 5 and now all the texts I receive from him show as coming from his email address and not as his name/number. They're not being delivered to my email inbox but in my messages app, rather than seeing 'Matt' at the top I see his full email address.

Is this something to do with his settings or mine? What's the solution please?

I'm not 100% sure if this is what Stuart has said already.

Go to

Settings>messages>send & receive

Make sure the mobile number is selected in there should fix it. Problem I had with mine when I first got it.

nah i forgot that as when my imessage had this problem, deleted the addresses & it was fine

Yep that's what I've done with mine - hubby away at mo so can't see his screen but he's telling me his iPhone 5 doesn't have a 'send&receive' option under messages.  Sounds like he's not looking properly though!

is he on the latest update 6.1

My friend on vodaphone had the same issue (no send & recieve menu) a restore fixed it.

No idea actually but perhaps not - he bought it yesterday afternoon  and perhaps it doesn't come with the latest update already on it? I'll hopefully get it sorted tomorrow.

If there's an update it normally tells you in the general menu in settings.
