Swapping SIM to Micro SIM ?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just upgraded to a Windows 8S from Windows HTC HD7 and on unboxing i discovered i now need a micro SIM.

There is a micro sim included in the box but it says that is only for use if you are a new pay monthly customer.

So i followed the instruction to go to swapmysim.o2.co.uk, this is where i have hit a snag, i requested the code which i received and then at the next step it asked you to enter the serial number of your sim which i did but after hitting continue i get the error message

"We're already doing a sim swap for your mobile phone number." in red writing and i cannot get any further.

I have just wasted 20 mins talking to a guru in chat and no further forward, complete waste of time, its like we were on different planets!

so can anyone advise if i will automatically be sent out a micro sim in post or will i need to do something else???

Okay, have you tried inserting the new sim-card into the new device? And if it's already in, have you tried rebooting your device?

Also, in about 30 minutes time after you've tried to register your new sim, you can try the process again I think (if I've heard right).

If none of this helps, may I suggest going into an o2 store for help with that? I reckon they'll be able to do it all for you right there and then!

I had to do a sim-swap the other day so I went into the store, they gave me a micro sim and they sorted it all out for me! Within 5 minutes, my new micro-sim in my new phone was working fully!

If you do go into the store to do this, don't forget to take your current phone with your current sim-card in because you'll need to receive a text.

Hope this helps!

You are better off calling 202 and speaking to an Human from the same planet as us

Good idea! Hope it goes well for you! And make sure you really persevere! The earlier you call them, the less busy they are! They open at 8am tomorrow :). Shame you'll have to wait so long to get to a store though if you have no luck over the phone!
Also, let us know how things go

Update people....

Not happy at all, got in from work today to find my new micro sim has been posted, great, until i open up the letter and its just another generic micro sim they have sent out like the one i got in the box with my new phone, i.e not a clone of my original sim as im expecting?

should have known this would have happened seeing as the guru i was in web chat with was as much use as a fart in a space suit Smiley Mad

so whats my options now? call 202 in the morning or best just to visit the local O2 shop?

pissed off!!!

Luck of the draw really, who you get to speak to. Guru is a much mis-used term when applied to some of the chat advisers.
