Got a new phone from CPW, with a new O2 PAYG number and tariff.
Wanted to transfer unused £6.40odd balance and number from the old PAYG O2 Sim to the new one, so the Guru in the local O2 shop has kicked that off, 24hrs for completion.
Meanwhile, a £6 bolt-on falls due for renewal tomorrow, and O2 website says the bolt-on cannot be removed today... Bolt-on does not apply to new Sim bundle... Just wondering if the balance transfer will be £6. 40odd or just £0.40odd...

Well, the changeover happened overnight, but not without a couple of glitches: the £10 balance paid to get the new SIM disappeared, and every text on a 1000 free-text tariff was costing 14p and browsing or something cost cost a pound overnight....
So an online chat this morning was needed to get the missing tenner reinstated, to get the new SIM with the old number onto the new 2G/250mins/1000txts tariff and to get the £1.14 spent on calls and data in the interim reimbursed. Only about an hour typing furiously...
All's well that ends well: old number still in play, new Nano Sim for new handset functional, and balance where it should be after having paid a tenner to get the new SIM.
The only odd thing is why the phone would cost £129.99 SIM-free, but getting it with a new O2 SIM and a putting a tenner on that new SIM brings the phone price down to £99.99. Economics never my strong point...
Oh, and the bolt-on was easily removed once the current bolt-on period had expired (done on-line).
The weird ways of mobile tech and carriers will never cease to amaze and astound me.

If lucky, transfer will happen first and then bolt on will fail.

Have O2 deactivated the old sim? That's the normal procedure when transferring a balance. If so then I fail to see how the bolt on could be taken.
