How do i pay this bill?

Anonymous

Hi,

Due to getting confused over Christmas costs, my DD for pay monthly/device failed. As I only have a basic bank account, I do not have a debit card and so cannot pay using that method, and can't find any information about paying via online banking. I can only find an option to pay via debit card (impossible) or phone O2 directly, which seems pointless as I cannot use any method of over-the-phone payment - unless they can authorise to take the DD again?

No problem @Anonymous. I bank with Nationwide (and HSBC) and never have a problem with direct debits etc. Oh yes it was Nationwide who gave my grandson his first debit card in September when he started weekend work. He is 16.

It's all very silly - simply, I didn't have a bank account until my mid-twenties, so in Santander's eyes this means I'm somehow up to something I shouldn't be; I'm far from the first to have this problem with them so I hope one day they'll be taken to task by someone with more clout than the little person.

We had the option of banking with Santander whilst in Spain. It had such a bad reputation there... we chose another bank completely...

My business account is with them. No problems at all.

Good to hear Kasia. Sadly though the op appears to have had some problems...so they may be better off changing to a bank who will issue them with a debit card....

I wouldn't touch Lloyds with a bargepole.

Strange as I've never had an issue with Lloyds or Nationwide in all the years we have used them.  My own bank the RBS however......
