Yes I know it's early but ITV have started to announce the contestants @Mi-Amigo and @sheepdog (and anyone else interested.

I've read that John Barrowman won't be judging this series. No news on who will replace him.

Today we have the first two contestants.

1) Sally Dynevor.

Sally has played Sally Webster on Coronation Street for 35 years. Aged 58. As I watch Corrie she is well known to me (lol)

2) Mark 'Bez' Berry from Happy Mondays

Already my favourite. Just love him. Mad as a box of frogs but apparently taking this seriously.

At least I know these two... I expect the rest will be announced over the next two weeks.

Thank you for the latests DOI news @Cleoriff

I was looking forward to seeing Rachel skate on Sunday so will have to wait another week.

As for Bez, will another week before he can train make any difference ? I doubt it.

I hope both are OK and look forward to Sunday`s show.

For the length of time this is on there seems to be only around 15 minutes of actual dancing?

Just a bit more than that @jonsie 😂

However, it is better watched via a recording so you can whip through the adverts 😂

Thank you @Cleoriff  for the songs the celebs will be skating to.

A good mix and should be interesting to see how they perform.

DOI Week 2 - Sun 23 Jan 2022

Opened with professional skaters staking/dancing to "Higher Power".

Celebrities-

Ben and Robin - judges commented on him being two-footed on ice - scored 23.0 [about right in my opinion]

Connor and Alexandra - great performance - scored 29.0 [slightly under-scored in my opinion]

Rachel and Brendan - rehearsals - Rachel hurt wrist, out of tonight`s live show - no vote

Stef and Andy - reasonable skate; had bad fall in rehearsals - scored 24.0 [right score in my opinion]

Liberty and Joe - judges commented on footwork - scored 26.0 [right score in my opinion]

Regan and Karina - performance of the night in my opinion - well deserved score 33.0.

Torville and Dean skated to "Lucy In The Sky" - filmed by drone

Saved by public vote - in no particular order

Regan and Katrina; Stef and Andy; Connor and Alexandra; Liberty and Joe

Skate-off

Ria and Lukasz [from last week] v Ben and Robin

All four judges voted to save Ria and Lukasz. Ben and Robin to leave - right decision, in my opinion.

I enjoyed the show - with two stunning performances - Connor and Alex; and Regan and Katrina.

Next week - Movie Week

Rachel and Brendn should be skating

Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's show.

Opening number by professionals, choreographed by Dan Whiston, was fast and furious. Probably had a bit too much content if honest.

A few points:

Such a shame that Ben was eliminated. It was the correct decision out of him and Ria, but a mockery when Bez is still in.

I think Connor was under marked. It was a superb skate from him.

Regan was the best skate of the night. Certainly on that performance  he will be giving Brendan a run for his money.

Brilliant drone work, showing Torville and Dean skating in one full sequence.

Looking forward to Movie Week.

I think I tuned out when I realised the opener was by Coldplay.

Thought Ben was a solid performer for the first attempt. Some issues but a good start.

Connor: doing all the technical challenges in week 1! Awesome.

Stef: mixed feeling about her. Technically not good and obvious mistake in the lift but would like to see her go on but given the high standard already and last week, 3 or 4 weeks may be the end point.

Liberty: had to put on the subtitles and still needed an interpreter. Actually not bad but please, no more of the booby bounce with the shoulders. Very un-profesh-an-AL 😂 I've worked with people around Birmingham area but I've yet to come across this peculiar dialect? Any ideas?

Regan: oh wow oh wow. Wasn't expecting this at all. Going to be a good series with Brendan/Kimberly/Regan throwing shapes every week.

Totally disagreed with the judges - thought Ben did better overall yet he was picked out his lifts as good yet Ria was being lifted a lot as per the typical skate-off for a female celeb? Judges fall for it every time or should I be rather more cynical and point out Ria is an ITV celeb on an ITV show. Neither should have been there though. Was rather surprised when Ben mentioned he'd been at it for 3 months so WTF has Bez been doing for 3 months to still be wearing a helmet?

Drone work was good but possibly too much movement for me which distracted from the skating. We'll see a lot more of that in future shows. You know Strictly is going to do this now.

@sheepdog

I was disappointed with Liberty. I expected more from her. She has skated a lot with her Mum so hardly a novice. That was no Birmingham accent. I thought she was one of the 'Essex crowd'.  I know her 'heroine' is Gemma Collins, so that says it all. A bit thick I thought 😂

Oh well, roll on movie week.

PS, of course we had to have the obligatory showing of Paul Gascoigne who looked a real mess. Cynic that I am, felt it was a bit silly to show him sitting there with a cup of tea! 🙄
