Hi,
Have just received a new pay as you go sim from O2. In the letter, step 2 tells me to download the My O2 app.
I downloaded it and tried to login but it says "oops. my O2 isn't available to you yet. don't worry, you can still manage your account in my O2 for web."
When I check my number for the sim on my phone, it says "unknown number". The letter the sim came in states the number though.
I am on an Android phone using dual sim. I placed my old sim in slot 2 and put this new O2 sim in slot 1.

Sorry, I've seen you paste this around on users who post similar issues. I have tried calling 4445 already and they said that they did not see any issues their end and that I should wait a while to see if it is just a case of waiting for their systems to update. If anyone else has any answers or solutions do let me know.

Firstly, it can take a few days for your MyO2 to work and secondly, there is no function on Android to write phone numbers to sim cards unless you use an esim.

Sorry I think you misunderstood. Mobile phones allow you to see the mobile number associated with the SIM currently inserted into the SIM tray, in case you want to share your contact details with someone else. In my case, it says "unknown" instead of displaying the mobile number.

Yes, although I ordered it last Thursday, so I would've thought it would've been updated on their system by now.
Also just to add, my O2 dashboard does not list out the two PAYG sims I ordered? The dashboard is pretty much just empty.
When I inserted the SIM for the first time, I had a notification from Google acknowledging the number and stating it has been verified for use across services for my Google account. So the number can definitely be read from the SIM.

I have given it over 24 hours and it is still not working. I am receiving messages about my SIM being activated although I have not done anything. I am messaging customer support via X, so maybe they are doing stuff on their end. I will keep messaging them to see if we can fix it.

Sorry, that is standard for Android where a network has not programmed the SIM to display it.
That is often the case with O2 SIM cards

Nope. You stated that there is no way to write numbers to sim cards within Android.

Exactly what you said right there.
I was not asking about that. I mentioned how the phone number associated with my new SIM was showing up as "unknown" when I looked at myself in the contact list. I see how my wording before may have lead to your confusion, however.

If it's the ordinary contact list you can call your entry up and edit that writing in your number there.
Same as you can do for any contact
