I lost service about 4pm and after switching off 3 or four times I checked the 02 website to see if any notices about faults. When I didnt see anything obviously there, I contacted my sister who lives just a mile away and her o2 service is working. I therfore put it down to a faulty phone. It was only on delving deeper into the o2 site that I found these discussions and find that many other people are having the same problem all round the country. Why oh why have o2 not put something prominent on their website to save all the wasted time and give us some idea how long the problem is going to last??????? EJ Accrington Lancs

Some sort of compensation is absolutely necessary. After all, we're currently paying for a service we can't use. If my company was to mess up on a massive scale like this, we'd expect to compensate our clients. If O2 don't compensate, it will be a PR disaster, plus people will walk, and rightly so.

I tried chatting using the website to support - busy.... it said. and tried to email and I kept getting a screen saying "The knowledge server is temporarily busy. Please try again later." Perhaps they have been hacked by Anonymous!

When my service was down twice in the past month - due to unplanned maintenance in the area. I was still able to call O2 from my phone (even when "no network" was displayed) The customer service representative stated that even when the line is disrupted they are still reachable. This is not the case just now. Must be serious problems to have this many people down!

It does tell us , it's probably worthwhile keeping a landline and having a Skype account on your pc . If you are a family with just mobiles , make sure they are on different networks....how did we survive without mobiles back in the old days !!!!!!
