Great O2 Customer Service

Seeing as people are naturally so quick to complain about the poor customer service they receive, I thought I would write a post to praise the service I received this afternoon, when I phoned 2302 to have a whinge about the appalling battery life on my 4 day old iPhone 4.

I explained the problem (I won't go into it in detail, suffice to say that my battery wasn't lasting more than 10-12 hours even when the phone was not being used) to a guy in customer services.

He agreed that it sounded like there was a fault with my handset, as other customers had reported much better battery life than the 3GS. He has ordered up a replacement handset for me (apparently, O2 keep reserves for exchanges and replacements), and has said that it will be delivered by the end of the week. No questions asked, no excuses, just good customer service.

Thank you, O2.

Now I just have to hope that the replacement handset doesn't have the same problem! grin

For sure, I have been fiddling with it since I got it, yet continue to produce crazy numbers.

I am sure the charging before playing makes a difference. Turning data off makes a huge difference, just like the Desire. Although, the Desire cannot touch the iPhone 4 on battery, no matter what you do to it.

I am pleased, your pleased!

Yep, I agree (plus turning off Data means your phone won't be sneakily using up your data allowance without you knowing about it!)

Credit where credit is due - the battery is absolutely fantastic.

My wife now wants an iPhone 4 and no longer wants her Desire. Do you feel the same way now that you have a fully functional iPhone 4?

She will have to wait a couple of months..... Geez! Women! :womanindifferent:

Hmmmm, that's a toughie.... I'm DEFINITELY warming to the iPhone 4.... But I did love the Desire.

I have to say, though, I think I'd be pretty hard pushed to recommend it over the iP4 now...

Looking at your numbers, you have been doing some amount of "playing" with that phone, yet it is holding out nicely. slight_smile

Yep, been fiddling with it all the time, partly because I can't help it (!) and partly because I want my usage summary to provide the most accurate reading, based on how I use the phone day-to-day. I don't want to deliberately use it less, just to get a better usage summary!

Should (just) get 3 days out of it. So realistically it'll mean that I'll charge it every other night, with a full cycle charge thrown in once every few weeks or so, just to keep the battery calibrated properly.

I get more life out of this than I did my Blackberry, so I am very happy.

Glad you are converted Andy and Tulstar, I will still wait till contract runs out next July but very good to hear the positives of the phone. As said my iphone 3GS will easily last a day or more at a year old and I really am a heavy user with location services and wifi on all the time who streams internet radio on commute to work and through the day moderate an iphone forum.

Agree with you 2 that it is all about how you maintain the battery, bought mine at 4 in the afternoon and it was on charge without use till the next day. After that every month make sure it is fully charged, discharge then give it a really good overnight charge.

For sure Brendan, every phone I have owned got a good roasting before I turned it on. As a result I have never had a bad battery.... except a Gawd awful thing I had for about three days, which has got to be the worst phone ever made..... Ericcson T68.

I am converted for sure to this phone. The weight, how tactile it is, how responsive it is and of course the battery. I have just made two, half hour calls and a one hour call yesterday, no sign of any dropped calls.
