Great O2 Customer Service

Seeing as people are naturally so quick to complain about the poor customer service they receive, I thought I would write a post to praise the service I received this afternoon, when I phoned 2302 to have a whinge about the appalling battery life on my 4 day old iPhone 4.

I explained the problem (I won't go into it in detail, suffice to say that my battery wasn't lasting more than 10-12 hours even when the phone was not being used) to a guy in customer services.

He agreed that it sounded like there was a fault with my handset, as other customers had reported much better battery life than the 3GS. He has ordered up a replacement handset for me (apparently, O2 keep reserves for exchanges and replacements), and has said that it will be delivered by the end of the week. No questions asked, no excuses, just good customer service.

Thank you, O2.

Now I just have to hope that the replacement handset doesn't have the same problem! grin

I can imagine you reaching for the power socket..... determined to get some charge into before turning it on! I am sure it will be fine.

Haha.... I hope so! If it's anywhere near what yours is, I'll be impressed.

I'll just set it up how I'd ideally like it (Push Email on, brightness @ 40% ish, Push Notifications off, 3G off, Bluetooth off, WiFi off unless I'm @ home or somewhere that has a free connection) and go from there. slight_smile

Other than Push Email-Off and my mobile data being off, that is pretty much my settings. No point in having data on unless you are using it. If I want to check my mail I press mail and force it manually.

I am using a 3GS and never turn off wifi or location services and still get more than a days use so you should be good for at least the 2 days. I do use over the new data limits pm so not a light user but do let the battery run through a full recycle every month to keep it good.

I'm guessing that, if I turn mobile data off, then I won't be able to check Twitter/Facebook etc without switching it back on again, right? I'll see how the battery does if it's kept on (and keep an eye on my data usage!).

My latest usage summary, for information:

Not too bad at all.... Not quite as epic as you, Ancientferguson, but I'm impressed so far

That definitely looks to be holding its own. A vast improvement. Onwards and upwards! wink

It takes a second to turn data on whenever you need it. And you could go nuclear too! wink

Yeah, I've turned Mobile Data off - I never really use the phone for anything other than texting when I'm in work anyway so it makes no sense to have it on.

I'll just switch it on when I leave work and wait for the barrage of emails to come through!

Nice to be popular!

Or will that be "Trainers are Us" trying to sell you a pair of black sandshoes, original 1968 MK2's? Full rubber smell, guaranteed no arch support, full achilles heel damaging model......

I look forward to your battery report! wink

Haha, how did you guess wink

Will post another pic of the usage summary tonight, and again in the morning until the thing runs out! Going by it's current performance (and considering I've spent a fair bit of time 'fiddling' with various things on it) I'd expect it to last until the end of the week. And that's fantastic slight_smile

There are those who may disbelieve my figures, it would be nice to have some back up. slight_smile

Couldn't resist doing one more.... Can't believe the battery on this thing! Bear in mind that I'm still fiddling with it, which means I'm locking/unlocking it all the time and going in and out of apps etc.

I calculated (sort of) that I'll get over 3 days out of it at this rate before needing to charge again:
