I have a question about free roaming in O2 Travel zone 2 - India, Thailand and Malaysia.
I have a Volt O2 SIM only account with O2 and Virgin Media which comes with O2 Travel Inclusive zone and includes O2 Travel zone 2. I called O2 to clarify my question yesterday. A helpful customer service agent Mary Rose answered the call. She told me that I can roam free (including data, minutes and texts) in Thailand and Malaysia but not in India. I will need to pay £7 a day to roam in India. I was not sure about the answer so asked her three times to confirm. She then talked to her manager and came back to me with the same answer. I asked if I get charged by O2 after coming back from my trip, what will they do? She said they will refund me as our conversation is recorded. I am still not convinced with her answer. So for the absolute clarity, I wonder if anyone can help me with this question please. Thanks in advance.

Volt benefits include O2 Travel Inclusive
Roam freely here as well as the EU
Which destinations are included in our Inclusive Zone?
The following destinations form our O2 Travel Inclusive Zone:
Australia | Madagascar |
Botswana | Mexico |
Canada | Myanmar |
Chile | New Zealand |
Colombia | Nicaragua |
Costa Rica | Panama |
Ecuador | Paraguay |
El Salvador | Peru |
Greenland | Rwanda |
Guatemala | United States |
Guinea | Uruguay |
Guyana | Venezuela |
You need the O2 Travel Inclusive Ultimate which is tariff dependent in order to roam freely in Thailand/Malaysia
Costs of O2 Travel are £7 per day
Much the better option is to get a local sim card such as TrueMedia or DTAC or AIS from the hundreds of 7-11 stores in any town or city.
Don't be tempted to buy from the airport as the costs and rates are not as competitive
The equivalent of £8-10 will give adequate data for a month even if streaming Netflix

Thank you Jonsie and Enlli. It sounds that the O2 customer service agent on the phone gave me the wrong information. Have a good weekend.
