Got the phone from a friend and is sim locked. They went to a store before giving it to me where they were told it was sim unlocked. I tried putting another sim in and it’s not working and says it is locked.
They have disconnected the phone from their O2 account and it’s still not working.
i looked at the previous post on here and none of those steps are working either! What can I do?

@AnotherMoose If the phone was locked to O2, see this guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card. - o2uk
If it's locked to another network you'd have to contact that network's customer service.
