SMS failing intermittently

Hi, I wonder if any of you guys experienced this before as I am running out of ideas...

I'm the owner of iPhone16e with dual e-sim installed on it, one of which is O2 which I have purchased about 2 months ago. Ever since installing the e-sim, every now and again my sms texts will fail to send (the standard iphone red exclamation mark next to the message saying message not delivered)...if I hit resend straight away it works fine. This happens regularly, in multiple locations and texting to multiple contacts. I have imessage turned off, have reset network settings, have been putting phone on flight mode and off, have turned on and off, everything that O2 had suggested that I do and this still did not fix the issue.

Apparently a ticket to network team had been raised, someone gave me a call few days ago and asked bunch of questions and made suggestions (all of which I followed with network settings reset etc.) and still nothing. Yesterday they called me again asking all the same things which makes an impression that there was nothing done since...it's just ever so frustrating!

Not also to rule out handset issue, I've run some tests from the other provider e-sim that I have installed and that works perfectly fine, not a singe message failure....which to me proves the point that this is a provider issue rather than phone fault.

Has anyone experienced this in the past? Have you had any luck fixing it somehow?

@MikeK122

Apple can sometimes get confused as O2 don't support the standard for delivery notifications on sms.

O2 have their own code which needs adding to the start of an sms *0#

Also for generic sms issues Guide: Text Message Tips (not sent or received)

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @MI5 thanks for your message!

Well I'm not going to be adding *0# to every text that I send...that would be an overkill...

On the other hand, how would that explain majority of texts working perfectly fine and only some failing?

@MI5 just to follow up I did few tests adding *0# to the beginning of messages and the only difference is that that I get a text back that message was delivered.

For the ones that fail to send there is no message back, not even the one to say it failed so what use is that?

Not much use I guess, but that just about sums up O2 currently......
