Hi all,

I have a really strange problem..

I completed a 5G eSIM swap yesterday, when I was completing it I got an error message which told me to try again later or call 202. Called O2 and they were having some system issues so left it for a bit and tried to activate the replacement SIM by SMS which errored and said that a SIM swap was already in progress.

Fast forward more than 24 hours and the new SIM is active (awesome!) but so is the old one which I can make calls and use data on.

Seems pretty strange as provisioning should have completed and removed the old one right?

That would normally be impossible and many would wish for 2 sims on the same contract slight_smile

I guess the system will catch up at some point and switch one of them off.

@garetc

Both sims have the same number?

Yep - I wonder if the process that deals with de-provisioning the old SIM didn't complete correctly due to the issues earlier in the day.

Why hasn't anyone asked, "if you put the physical sim in another phone, do both phones ring when a call comes in?"

It doesn’t, only the new SIM rings but they’re still both active.

I think you might be right on this @MI5

I upgraded my phone in-store last week which meant a new eSIM thinking that the original SIM would deactivate but it's still going strong!
