Hello, I have an old phone number that I religiously ring to check its status I have rang it today, and it states “the number you have called is not recognised”
I want to recover this number to a SIM card or buy it back, I have accounts connected to that number I can only log into by receiving a pin to that number and it is linked to a wallet so it’s not as easy as finding an alternative recovery method
Now I was with virgin but for some reason they have moved my accounts here to 02
i have scoured the internet an found old posts on here of people who had a lost number for 5 years and after kicking up enough fuss was able to find a solution so can someone from 02 please guide me
Here ?
I’ve tried to chat with an agent in tech support but the link to live chat keeps telling me to download the 02 app when I already have so this is my last resort can someone please help here

If it is PAYG have you carried out a chargeable activity in the past 6 months, call, text or top up?
7.1. If you do not carry out any chargeable activity at least once in any 6 month period your Mobile Phone will be disconnected and you will lose any remaining credits balance on your Account. If you wish to be re-connected after this time you will be given a new Mobile Phone number.
You will need to contact O2 to ask.
Message them on Social Media. Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , X Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)
Or phone them on 202 or 0344 809 0202 (contract)
4445 or 0344 8090222 (PAYG)

This has nothing to do with credits connected to my number this is to do with accessing an account linked to the number it was a contract number if that’s what PAYG is I just need the number allocated so I can receive a text for the login code to my account that is all

It is slightly curious how this number has got "lost" if it was a contract SIM and not PAYG - did you cancel the contract ?
Anyway, this is a customer to customer community and we cannot access accounts so you will need, as @Enlli has suggested above, to contact O2. He has provided you with details and they are also in :-
