Reclaiming My Old Number

I need to recover my old phone number.

A guy on your customer service said that once the number has been disconnected then it's blocked forever and nobody can ever get that number again.

I know this is a load of nonsense and just not true. It's wrong information he gave me.

So, will someone please advise me how to get my old O2 number back.

I need it urgently to be able to log back into a few other online accounts that I've accidentally locked myself out of.

Many thanks.

Depends on how long ago you 'lost' it and if it was an original O2 number and not one ported in from another network.

If it has been moved to quarantine then you are out of luck

Remember it was not your number and it belongs to the issuing network

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

We cannot do anything on this customer to customer community @Xlj. I suggest that you contact O2.

You can message O2 on social media :-

Facebook : https://o2uk.co/O2CFB

X (previously known as Twitter) : https://o2uk.co/O2CTW

Instagram : https://o2uk.co/O2CIG

A complete schedule of how to contact O2 is in :-

Assuming it is an O2 number in the first instance you have 6 months from disconnection to have any chance at all.

Longer than that and you're stuffed.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Have you approached any those "locked" services to see if they can register your new number after proving you are who you say you are by answering other questions that they may ask (eg date of birth, address, first pet's name or mother's maiden name, for example), @Xlj? Much more likely to succeed than chasing O2 for a disconnected number...
