O2 SIM - No connection

Hi.

As of this morning (I think  - perhaps yesterday) my O2 SIM shows as no connection. I've had it for over a year and had no issues until now.

What I've tried:

  1. I've checked the service status site and it reports no problems in the area.
  2. I've have tried the usual phone restarts and turning SIM on and off to no effect.
  3. I can't log in to either the O2 mobile app or the O2 desktop app to see if it's an issue with the account (the latter route sends me a code to proceed which I can't receive :/).
  4. I can't call O2 support either via the SIM or WiFi. the WiFi is connected and the settings are correct to allow this, but it won't let me make a wifi call for some reason.

Some things that may or may not be relevant:

  1. I cancelled my Virgin Media package as of 20th April. the O2 SIM was part of this 'Volt' package and I was advised just to get a PAC code (which I did) and the contract would stop when I used it. I haven't used it yet, and it may well have expired. I don't know if the SIM may have been cancelled automatically after a certain period. I've had no contact to that effect.
  2. My Virgin Equipment was collected yesterday. It's hard to think how this could affect the SIM working but the timing seems coincidental.
  3. I've had hotspot tethering on since 20th April to now. Ironically this was due to a) Cancelling virgin package due to price increase as of 20th April and b) Openreach discovering their fibre line to our street was cut during the installation of the Virgin Media cables, which required digging up the road and only completed yesterday. I suspect my data usage for the month will have been much higher than normal and wondering if the SIM has been 'suspended', thought it's an unlimited data contract. Again, I've had no contact to this effect.

I'm not sure where to turn next to try and get to the bottom of this. Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance.

You can call o2 using the freephone number 0800 032 1402 and Skype @Jocko

It does seem a little too coincidental for me too, but if you haven't used the PAC then it wouldn't be that.

If the number above doesn't help you can also message on social media:
