My phone never connects to 5g. I've recently upgraded to an S25. I was sat next to a friend recently, also on o2 who had 5g but my phone was still using 4g. Even when in central London 5g does not work. Why is this?

Have you got 5G selected in your network type?
Have you battery saver on (it will save power by using 4G when possible)
How old is your SIM

Because it's still being rolled out. Even O2 don't yet have 5G SIM cards for general sale. 😄

All sims provided by o2 are 5G by default on Pay Monthly and as blank SIM cards....
PAYG you cant get 5G at all, your only option is giffgaff
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company

@koala321 Did you not read the post? They were sitting next to someone on O2 who had 5G
All new contract SIM cards are 5G enabled and have been for some time. My own is also 5G Stand Alone Ready,

@Enlli I didn't know @Larvey was on a contract SIM. 5G SIM cards for PAYG aren't available yet, but they are for contract customers.
But I stand by my first sentence. My area doesn't yet get 5G. I've checked on the O2 coverage checker and my whole area is in white when 5G is selected which means no coverage.
I don't have a 5G phone, but has @Larvey made sure 5G is selected on his/her phones Network settings, in the same way 4G has to be selected on 4G phones?
😀
