incorrect charges in recent bill

Anonymous
Not applicable

my recent bill contains 4 charges for sending text messages from Northern Ireland to Guernsey. Surely both these countries are in the UK and therefore no charge should be made!

Unfortunately O2 have decided that the Channel islands are no longer part of the UK so international charges of around 40p are billed.

Guernsey is in the Europe zone, so if you live in NI, close enough to the border to pick up a Southern mobile network, roam onto it and send your message(s) for free Zipped

This wont work as the channel islkds are not part of the EU, but are part of the customs,so you will be charged

It should provided the connection is an Ireland (in Europe Zone) network NOT an N.I. network.

If you check the link, Guernsey and Jersey are both in O2's Europe Zone - so qualify as a roam-like-home location. So if you are roaming on an Irish network and send a text to Guernsey, it comes off your free text allowance.

Sneaky, but nice idea. I'm sure house prices in the South will increase dramatically now wink
