I received a taxt from o2 informing me that calls to channel islands mobiles will not be included in "free minutes" from 4th december. As one of my sons lives there, this will leave me with a real problem !

Hi chredo, Thanks for posting your thoughts and I shall pass them back to the team, I have retrieved some more info on the change below:

O2 removed these number types from our inclusive bundles as these are not standard domestic calls and telecoms providers are applying higher costs to us. It is no longer sustainable for us to absorb these charges.

Customers who are regular callers to Jersey/Guernsey and Isle of Man can buy International Extras Bolt On, and get 30 minutes of calls for £5 or 70 minutes for £10.

We are the last network to remove these ranges from inclusive minute allowances. More info here: http://www.o2.co.uk/support/generalhelp/howdoi/specialnumbers

We have been clear in our terms and conditions that call charges to Jersey, Guernsey and IoM are excluded in our bundles.

For some time we have included them for customers, and this has been great value for our customers. However telecoms providers are now applying higher costs to us when routing these calls and unfortunately it is no longer sustainable for us to absorb these charges.

Seems this text is going out to everyone and I personally see no justification for it.

The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not part of the UK, they are dependencies so I would say no.

I see that point but surely if calls were included when you sign up for a contract they can't just remove it

They are part of the British Isles which is not the same thing.

That's a good point if the Channel Islands were specifically mentioned as being incuded.

I wonder if this has to do with the Ofcom ruling about fixed contracts? Looks like O2 are trying to do this before the rule comes into effect.
