I pay monthly and have the International Bolt On. I also have a £10 spend limit. Recently I made a call to one of the Channel Islands (Jersey) and completely used up my spend limit in a matter of minutes. Are the Channel Islands not included as part of the International Bolt On? If so, why are the Channel Island not considered part of the UK? They the the +44 country code.

@Sparty

Only the countries listed here included https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/the-international-bolt-on

Channel islands are dependent territories and not part of the UK.

I had an online chat with O2 customer service and they verified that calls to the Channel Islands are not covered by either the International Bolt-on or the my allotment of monthly minutes. They seemed to acknowledge that this is a billing flaw and may follow-up with the powers that be.

It's not a flaw.

It's the same for every network for the reason I posted above.

Chat just said that to get rid of you.

Jersey is part of the UK's National Telephone Numbering Plan, which means the island shares the UK's international dialling code of +44. Landline telephone numbers have the area code (0)1534.

However, these have always been charged as international calls from the UK mainland. I remember ringing Jersey from a BT landline in the late 1980s and being charged about twenty quid for a call of a few minutes ! 😀

Ironically pay monthly customers can use their UK allowances when visiting, but PAYG customers get charged and need O2 Travel bolt on.
