Firstly you need to check with CS (call 4445) to make sure international roaming is enabled on your phone.
Costs for calls and data can be found here http://www.o2.co.uk/international/internationalhub

Other options to use are wifi where you can and turn off mobile data inn your phones settings.

What's app and viber , Skype and even Facebook has calling features all to be used on available wifi.

If you plan ahead and unlock your phone here https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%... which is £15 T&C apply you could look at using a local SIM card. Just a thought.

Turn off uk O2 voicemail before you leave the Uk if it's turned on.

Here is a good app to use. http://news.o2.co.uk/2014/06/13/travel-app-launches-with-content-from-tripadvisor/ is the O2 Travel App.

You should really think about receiving calls in the far East. Rates are crazy and rounded up minute wise. Also switch off voicemail.

There are so many ways to keep in touch without paying anything.

Thanks everyone. The thing is I am waiting for job interviews/interview invitations when I am away, I don't want to miss any opportunites. so have to keep the voicemail on. But I am still not sure how I can receive calls from the UK. I called 4445, but it keeps saying the service is not available. 4444 does not help too. I just want to turn on my roaming service. Can I do it online?

4445 should work then if you have credit as some payg tariffs it's not free to ring them.

Ask online Live Chat. slight_smile
