Hi,
Google results from a few years ago say that Tesco Mobile has the exact same coverage as O2 (some bulk buy discount myth).
Yesterday some O2 person cold called me (sniffing out numbers on the network?) trying to sell me a contract & told me that Tesco only has access to 1 in 4 phone masts on O2's network?
Anyone know if this is true or just an attempt to encourage a deal? I see nothing on O2/Tesco sites to suggest such a limitation.
Solved! Go to Solution.

O2 wifi hotspots are few and far between. Don't let that be a deciding factor...

http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/O2-in-Droitwich-WR9/td-p/838079
Although titled O2 in Droitwich, you'll find it expands to Tesco layter in the thread. I'm moving from Tesco to O2 so that I can get 4G on my handset, which is 4G ready but not supported by Tesco, even though I have a 4G ready SIM only contract!!
The list you supplied in the other thread relating to phones supported by Tesco for 4G is incorrect, or at the least, incomplete. I am on Tesco Mobile and I have a Motorola Razr HD,which was bought sim free, and which works absolutely fine on Tesco 4G. Where did you get that list from?
By doing another online order for a SIM only contract and clicking on the info button that now allows you to open a drop dowwn list of the phones they support............. Needless to say I didn't complete the order - I just wanted the list that they now provided !!

Could be - it occurred to me that perhaps Tesco only support the phones they sell or have sold. They never have sold the LG G3 as far as I'm aware hence it not being supported. Who knows? Not Tesco that's for sure !!

I didn't buy my phone from Tesco. I bought it on Amazon sim free. At the time I bought it, I was an O2 customer on a legacy 3G contract, and then switched to Tesco Mobile. The phone is 4G ready, and when I put the Tesco Mobile sim in the phone I got 4G.
The list on the Tesco site is confusing. It's incomplete.

I'm suggesting that Tesco only suppot phones they sell or have sold - it matters not who you actually bought it from.
I don't know how they do it. The LG G3 is a pretty sophisticated device and is most definitely 4G ready! With a Tesco SIM card in it allows 2G and 3G only. With an O2 SIM card in it allows 2G, 3G and 4G. It's that simple. Whether the Tesco list is fully up to date or not I wouldn't know. I do know that Tesco doesn't know either ...... Which says it all really
