O2 have found a loophole around the OFCOM ruling it would seem and have announced an increase of 2.7% with effect from 1st March 2014 for ALL customers regardless of whether you signed up before or after the ruling came into effect.
Standard tariff customers will have their whole tariff increased by 2.7%. Refresh customers will have the airtime only element of their tariff increased by 2.7%. The handset element of refresh tariffs will be unchanged.
Details at http://www.o2.co.uk/desktop/prices
Also posted in the thread discussing the OFCOM ruling but I thought this merited its own thread too

Kyle,
I don't expect personal replies, but I do expect a response, filtered through the community team. Now that this place is run by O2 and not some gawd awful moderating company, that were partly responsible for killing the boards off, I expect better from O2. But there again, do I really?
Were you and others like you encouraged to come to these forums to help out? There was a sudden rush of O2 staff when the place was dying.
Haha, nope. I'd be really quite put off if I was asked or expected to come here for free...
Didn't mean to sound snarky or anything as I do actually agree with you, I think it would be neat if there were people on here as you said with BT, sounds great. As far as I'm aware there aren't any plans for that (that I'm aware of), however it's a huge company so I could be completely wrong there. You can usually get an actual official(-ish) response using facebook or twitter, although with facebook you'll have to wade through the all caps hysteria and abuse that people seem to love to post on there before you can get to anything useful.

But this is the same as o2 price increase moving to ee will still allow a rpi increase same as o2 t&c I think only 3 has reworded in the spirit of the which campaign even vodafones says we may change prices.
The which campaign failed and ofcom just wanted better clarity to the t&c and o2 has complied to them.

I agree Adam, EE are looking suspiciously, suspicious. But even with two RPI increases in a two year contract, I won't be paying anything like I will with O2. I m not due to make a move until May/June and by that time I will know much more. What I was highlighting in this post was the fact the community manager was having a useful input in the forums as opposed to dishing out cyber happy pills.
Edit: I have just realised that Leonard has gone. That must have been a relief for everybody? How much has that smiley just cost me?
Incidentally, I have never paid for a single MMS yet use smileys all the time. Is that because I have MMS turned off on my iPhone? I must keep up to date!

Smileys will only send as MMS messages if they are one of the new breed of extended smileys (i.e. not easily representable by text like ye old etc). If you're using imessage to send them they won't cost you, either.

Its probably the old types I use, being the old grunter that I am. Cheers!

There's been a couple of reports on here of other people being advised about the increase at sign up and then cancelling the sign up and leaving the store.
My first account terminated this morning after using my PAC code. Another account will have its termination letter sent tomorrow and the final will be terminated in April when I can pay it off.
I cant see how this can be anything but a total disaster for O2. New sign ups are being affected. People are leaving left right and centre. The only plus for them is that they may not have to spend the often quoted £1.5million per day on improving the network if no one is using it
