Did you take out a new contract @AntBVAFC or upgrade?
If an upgrade, then use your old sim.
If a new contract you will need to activate the sim.

I too have no signal with the supplied 5G sim that came with my Xperia 1 ii. After a restart, I get the message "Sim is not provisioned for voice". My old sim works with the phone, but is not 5G. New sim required.

You need to do a SIM swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update

Yes you will.
