Made big mistake with roaming abroad

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone

I have been abroad past 3 days and had roaming on as misread the cost of £7.2 per MB and have used approx 700MB.So looking at a bill in the thousands £

I really need to know who I can speak to as I really can't afford this, for an honest mistake

My02 hasn't updated yet with the costs, I've just realised now

I don't know where to start I'm completely panicking.

Many thanks

J

Surely there has to be a system in place as a precaution.

All data is is routed back to UK, unless in a country where o2 travel doesn’t exist i think

Yikes!!!! How could the OP have used 700MB if the website says the maximum usage is 200MB per month?

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Unless th system didn’t kick in.

you can ask for Data Shock on the bill and see what o2 does.

but surely there has to be a safe guard in place, unless everything safe guard known is removed.

That's why I asked if they had O2 travel - still a big ask, but the only way I can think that limits wouldn't apply.
Obviously then, the bill would only be £15 too slight_smile

But then o2 travel is throttled out side EU and is heavy throttled after 50MB.

something doesn’t make sense.

Im hoping we will get some info when @Anonymous is back on

Well if it is 700mb at £7.20 each, it's over £5k !

Now I don't get this at all.

If it clearly states on the website that data will be capped at £40...is that ONLY if you have O2 Travel? Also why didn't @Anonymous get a warning text about excessive usage?

I think the OP will be fine. The website clearly states that the the cap of £40 per billing month will be applied so what's to argue or is there something in the small print about EU only. Bit too tired to look right now.
