International roaming

Does it cost anything to have international roaming enabled for a payg account? And in addition, do I need to contact customer services to get this enabled?
I am going to jersey for a few days at the end of november, and as far as I can tell, my phone would be roaming onto a different network over there.

There is no charge to enable roaming and in my experience, I have never had to have it enabled, it has been automatic on our family's P&G phones.
You might want to confirm yours is ok by checking with O2. I would also switch voicemail off before you go (dial 1760) whilst in the UK.
