If Scotland leaves the UK, will O2 charge international rates?

Been bugging me for a while, I have friends and family in Scotland and text/call them frequently. If Scotland leaves the UK, they'll become a foreign country not automatically an EU member so will it cost the same to text as it would contacting someone in say America?

Something for O2 to clarify
If and when it happens.

I personally think they'll go to accept more powers and stay as is.

Went on the O2 live chat thing and the rep didn't have a clue what I was even talking about. Scary considering the referendum is a week away.

The way things are going, looks like the new Scottish Administration may have to levy a charge for all texts, emails and other e-data crossing their borders in any direction!

As Live Chat are typically non uk outsourced call centres I'm not surprised they didn't have a clue. 😞

Just one of many questions "if" independence is voted for - There will be much head scratching to be done....

Interesting question Ryan! If I can find out, I shall let you know, although I would assume that this is still being looked into.

Will O2 UK have to then split into O2 Scotland and O2 England,Wales and Northern Ireland?

Otherwise what happens to all the O2 masts in Scotland?

There are more implications than just whether Scotland will be a non-EU foreign country.

This is one of the many issues that the "FREEDOM!!! brigade" and Yessirs haven't taken into consideration. For some reason they believe that wee smug Salmond that everything will be fine, everything will be fine and we'll all be better off! imwithstupid.gif

Just incase there is a Yes vote on the 18th, is anyone down south looking for a lodger? wink

I'm not sure where all the yes voters are - I've not spoken to anyone in favour of it at all.....?
