I am not sure if this specific question has been asked before (if it has, I can't find it):
I want to purchase a new o2 contract from mobiles.co.uk (a new o2 contract is cheaper than any upgrade option from o2 or mobiles.co.uk), and I still have my existing o2 sim only deal (that I am now paying monthly by choice, as the contract is complete).
My question is, how would I go about getting my current number onto the new contract. I would obviously call and cancel the old, complete contract. Would I then just ask them to transfer my number to my new o2 contract from mobiles.co.uk? Would I have a brand new myo2 account as well? Any help would be appreciated

I've submitted a complaint. Thankfully I found this thread! I knew it was possible as I've done it previously but this just gave me the extra 1% confidence. Thank you for your and others help!

Do not expect @collierp77 a quick response from O2. We understand that it is taking O2 up to eight weeks to investigate and respond to complaints.
I am also unclear as to the basis of your complaint ? It appears that your problem has been solved so what are you hoping to achieve ?

My complaint is based on the agent either lying to me (for 2 hours) or the need for product training for the agent and whomever he consulted with the many times I was put on hold.
As for what I'm looking to achieve, well, I'm hoping that someone else won't have to go through the same nonsense.
Some 'feel good' pennies wouldn't go amiss either

Just as an update, 7 months later my complaint has been responded to. I now have the 20% airtime discount applied to my account, an assurance that the call will be reviewed and training given and £150 compensation for my wasted time. Very pleased with that as a result.

Bringing up an old issue. I have exactly the same issue with being told this cant be done. New device on a new contract assigned to existing O2 account , and want to move my existing rolling contract number to this new device and contract. I have been told by by one agent it is not possible and by another that they can try it but they might loose the number. They tell me there is no option to transfer the call to a UK based agent , which seemed to by the way @collierp77 managed to get it sorted.
Any ideas appreciated , worst case seems to be the PAC off onto a PAYG sim from another provider and back on new O2 number , but it does seem a crazy way to have to do it .

A few people have had to do that although it shouldn't be necessary.
Guide: Migration & porting into O2
Try O2 on one of the social media (UK) platforms.
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (X) (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

To be honest even PACing out then porting back in seems to give O2 problems
A few cases on here of people losing their number porting in
It really shouldn't be this difficult to move a number

Turns out its not that difficult , just nipped down the local(ish) O2 shop and they sorted in 10 minutes.
