Do o2 credit check existing customers for a new contract

Hi all, so I need a phone for my sons birthday, he is willing to wait until I can upgrade. But I feel really bad on him. Do o2 credit check existing customers to take out an additional line? I know other companies don’t. Thanks in advance

Yes, for an additional line you will be checked, but not if you upgrade the current one.

For an upgrade they wouldn't credit check but they almost certainly would taking out a new line.

@Ebritton14 Normally they don’t credit check for upgrades but if it’s an additional line then I’m not entirely sure maybe @MI5 @jonsie could corroborate

I can confirm 100% that a credit check is done for additional lines.
