4g speed

I've just upgraded to a nice new Sony Z2 with a 4g contract. I've done a few speed tests in London and I'm a bit disappointed with the results. The max speed I've seen is 12mbps download and 1.2mbps upload. Those look like 3g speeds to me.

How do I know whether I'm actually getting 4g, and what speeds should I expect to see? I would expect to get at least 20mbps download and 10mbps upload minimum in a good 4g area...

I've found the problem. I wasn't given a 4g SIM with my new Z2! They're going to send me one...

Thank you for the update.

A 4g sim will say 4G printed in it.

Most strange - I didn't know O2 had anything other than 4G sims now Astounded

That would explain things. They stopped issuing 3G sims at the advent of 4G

Sounds like a human error and mix up.

Well that's better!

4G SIM, first test in central London: 26mbps down, 2.6 mbps up. I'm sure I'll get better than that in a better 4G area, but at least I am now getting 4G - and it does indeed say 4G in the notification bar.

Thanks all for the advice.
